MCC examinations, source verification, and why the province you choose decides most of the rest.

- Open a physiciansapply.ca account; have credentials source-verified through the MCC service (applicants to Ontario contact that province's college directly); demonstrate English or French proficiency as the province requires; sit the MCC examinations; then enter postgraduate training. The Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada follows, then specialty certification, then registration with the provincial or territorial regulator.

After the examinations there is a choice of routes into practice: a CaRMS match into Canadian residency, a Practice-Ready Assessment (a twelve-week clinical assessment), the approved jurisdictions route for equivalent training, or the Practice Eligibility Route for recognised international specialty training.
The MCC is explicit that requirements are defined by each province or territory and vary significantly. Decide the province before you plan the sequence, not after.
